چکیده

Phenol is one of the main pollutants that have a serious impact on environment and can even be very critical to human health. The biodegradation phenol considered an increasingly important pollution control process. In this study, degradation by Bacillus simplex was investigated for first time under different growth conditions. Six initial concentrations were used as primary substrate. Culture conditions had effect these cells' ability biodegrade phenol. best organism its highest level noticed at pH 7, temperature 28 °C, periods 36 96 h, respectively. GC-MS analysis bacterial culture sample revealed further catechol 1,2-dioxygenase produce cis, cis-mucconic acid via ortho-pathway and/or 2,3-dioxygenase into 2-hydroxymucconic semialdehyde meta-pathway. rate perceived 700 mg/L concentration. Approximately 90% (700 mg / L) removed in less than hours incubation time. It found Haldane model fitted relationship between specific concentration, whereas profiles with could adequately described modified Gompertz model. obtained parameters from equation are: 1.05 h−1, 9.14 ppm, 329 ppm Haldane's maximum rate, half-saturation coefficient, Haldane’s kinetics inhibition experimental data minimizing sum squared error (SSR) 1.36 X 10-3.

Phenol Biodegradation Kinetics in the Presence of Supplimentary Substrate

Biodegradation of phenol in the presence of glucose as a supplementary substrate was investigated with mixed microbial consortium isolated from waste effluent of coke-steel factory. Batch experiments were carried out at room temperature and pH value of 7. Initial phenol and glucose concentrations were in the range of 25-1000 mg/l and 500-3000 mg/l, respectively. In a dual substrates system the ...

Exploring Kinetics of Phenol Biodegradation by Cupriavidus taiwanesis 187

Phenol biodegradation in batch systems using Cupriavidus taiwanesis 187 has been experimentally studied. To determine the various parameters of a kinetic model, combinations of rearranged equations have been evaluated using inverse polynomial techniques for parameter estimation. The correlations between lag phase and phase concentration suggest that considering phenol inhibition in kinetic anal...

Kinetics of Biodegradation of Phenol and a Polyphenolic Compound by a Mixed Culture Containing Pseudomonas Aeruginosa and Bacillus Subtilis

Biological degradation of phenolic compounds by a mixed bacterial culture was investigated. Pseudomonas aeruginosa and Bacillus subtilis were the two strains used in the study. pH and the temperature for the growth of bacteria was found to be 70.2 and 372C, respectively. The mixed microbial culture was able to degrade 250 mgl of phenol and wattle completely within 36 and 48 hours, respectivel...

Biodegradation of Phenol by Newly Isolated Phenol-degrading Bacterium Ralstonia sp. Strain PH-S1

A newly phenol-degrading bacterium, identified as Ralstonia sp. strain PH-S1, was isolated from oil-contaminated soil in Khark Island. It was isolated by a multistep enrichment and screening technique on mineral medium (MM) containing 100 mg.l-1 of phenol as the sole source of carbon. The bacterium was able to degrade up to 1100 mg.l-1 of phenol but the cell growth decreased with higher concent...
